Genesee County Animal Control
Concerned Citizens Advisory Panel
GRACE mentioned in our January update, we have new Board of Commissioner Members on the Animal Control Sub Committee. These new
Commissioners have been very interested in understanding the needs at GCAC, and the improvements that we at GRACE and the general public
are asking for. At this point, they have received a lot of input from many sources. So much input that it has been a little overwhelming. We love how passionate the animal lovers of Genesee County are!
With all of the input the Commissioners are receiving, you might imagine that it would be a daunting task to begin to address it. The Animal
Control Sub Committee has asked GRACE to help them assemble an Advisory Panel to assist in identifying all of the issues, prioritizing them and
making well researched suggestions for resolving them.
The Advisory Panel will be a great way to collect input from any concerned citizen in the county. At this time, the Panel is intending to hold open to
the public meetings during evening hours every month. This will make it much easier for residents to attend meetings and contribute ideas.
The Panel is comprised of 11 individuals from all over Genesee County. GRACE has two members on the Panel, but the rest of the seats are filled by members of other animal advocate groups, rescue organizations and independent animal advocates. All 11 are committed to volunteering their time and focusing their energy on bringing hope and compassion to the homeless pets of Genesee County.
We are very excited to be given this valuable opportunity to lend our voices and collective strength to the important work done at GCAC. We will not
rest until the killing of adoptable and treatable animals at GCAC is a thing of the past, until GCAC is established as a state and national leader in its field,
and the facility is a source of pride for our community.
